Private Music Therapy
Factors affecting the cost of private music therapy include:
#1 Session Length
Simply put, the longer the session, the more it will cost. However, the longer the session, the more value you get for your investment in a per dollar amount.
#2 Type of Service (Group vs. Individual)
If you are a parent and want to sign your child up for a music therapy group, your per session rate will be lower than individual music therapy sessions.
#3 Commute and Travel Time
In-Home Services increase the base rate by $5 per session. If the music therapist needs to travel more than 15 miles, additional fees for commute will apply.
The following prices are intended to be a starting point and are subject to change based on the criteria listed above.
Group Music Therapy (per person)
Session Length | Per Session Rate |
---|---|
30 minute | $40 |
45 minute | $55 |
60 minutes | $65 |

**Assessment: Prior to starting regular on-going sessions, the client will come in for a one-time 30-45 minute assessment at a rate of $110. The assessment is used to assess the client’s baseline cognitive, motor, language, social, and emotional needs, as well as their response to music, then the therapist will work after the session to develop goals and a treatment plan for moving forward.
For Businesses
Factors affecting the cost of services for contracted music therapy include:
#1 Session Length
Simply put, the longer the session, the more it will cost. However, the longer the session, the more value you get for your investment in a per dollar amount.
#2 Type of Service (Group vs. Individual)
If you are a business contracting for music therapy groups, the rate will be higher than individual sessions, however you will reach more of your clients and get more bang for your buck.
#3 Quantity of Services
More than two sessions in a visit will keep the per session cost lower.
#4 Scheduling
For businesses who want music therapy services for a variety of clients within the same setting, scheduling these sessions back to back on the same day will keep the per session cost lower, as opposed to spreading the sessions out throughout the week.
#5 Commute and Travel Time
If the music therapist needs to travel more than 15 miles, additional fees for commute will apply.
The following prices are intended to be a starting point and are subject to change based on the criteria listed above. Custom pricing structures are also available based on your program needs.
