In-the-Moment Improvisation
I had a beautiful session yesterday with a young boy on the Autism Spectrum. He’s completely verbal but recently has started talking in his own language on occasion. This makes things a little difficult when someone is trying to figure out what he wants, but in the music therapy setting it ended up making for great music! When I saw how much he was enjoying this new “language” I decided to start improvising on the piano to make a game out of it. It ended up turning into a beautiful interaction that I just have to share.
