Music Therapy Highlighted on KRCL 90.9 Salt Lake City

adminResources
We are doing all we can to advocate for and educate about music therapy here in Utah. Most recently we participated in a local radio segment on KRCL 90.9 FM!

I recently had the privilege of participating in a radio broadcast about music therapy on a local Salt Lake City station–90.9 KRCL. It was a total blast! I’ve done TV before but have never been in a radio broadcasting station and it was a lot of fun to see how things worked and to be a part of the process. To make it even better, I accompanied my dear friend and colleague, Amanda Maestro-Scherer (also a music therapist). Amanda and I were interns together back in 2007, and she is currently the Music Therapy Program Director at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. She is a phenomenal therapist and a top notch individual. Oh and we also serve together as President and Vice President of the Utah Association of Music Therapists (UAMT). Powerhouse!

In addition to Amanda, we were also joined by Dr. Dominic Moore, a Pediatric Palliative Care Doctor at Primary Children’s Hospital. He is a strong supporter of music therapy and truly sees its value and power with the children he treats. This was my first time meeting him, and I was impressed with his down to earth nature and relaxed persona. Seems like a top notch Doc!

The interview centered around the training of a music therapist, who we work with, how we help others with music, and how people can use music in their own homes. You can hear the segment via this link–the music therapy portion starts about 25 minutes into the segment.

Enjoy!
